1. Art & Design Majors - Almost all colleges require a portfolio for admission. Do you have one?

2. SUNY College Night - Tuesday, October 7, 6:00-9:00 P.M. At the Riverside Convention Center. Over 60 colleges will be represented. To register, go to www.suny.edu/student. Follow-up online chat, October 15.

3. SAT/ACT Registration Deadlines - The deadline for the December 13 ACT is November 7. The deadline for the November 1 SAT is Friday, September 26. The deadline for the December 6 SAT is October 30. You can register after these dates, BUT only by paying a substantial late fee.

4. Tops Scholarship - Are you an employee of Tops or Cumberland Farms? If you are, contact your store manager for additional information about their scholarship program.

5. College Nights at the Malls - Wednesday, October 8, 6:30 - 8:30 P.M. @ Marketplace Mall. Please encourage underclassmen to attend.

6. Common Applications - A number of colleges and universities have gotten together and agreed to accept the same application. Check the poster either on the bulletin board outside of Mike's office or on the bulletin board in the main hallway to see if you are applying to any of the participating institutions. Mike has copies of the “Common Application” available for your use.

7. Dental Hygienist, Massage Therapy & Nursing programs @ MCC - Are you considering applying to any of these programs @ MCC? If you are, then your application should be submitted as soon as possible. These are three of the most popular and competitive programs @ MCC.

8. College visits - Please see Mike before you make any college visits. You need to be properly prepared before you go.

9. University of Buffalo Open House - Saturday, October 18, 2003. Register today! Go to www.buffalo.edu/openhouse or call 1-888-UB-ADMIT.

10. Financial Aid - CSS/Profile - Does the college you're applying to require that a CSS/Profile form be filed? If it does, please pick up the form from Mike. DO NOT file it before September 15, 2003. If you are going to register on-line, please remember that you or a parent/guardian must have a valid credit card.

11. SAT II's - Does the college you're applying to require SAT II's? Will they take the ACT instead? You should know the answer to these questions already.

12. Required vs Recommended Courses - Does the college you're applying to recommend / require certain courses for admission? Do you have them?

13. Coca-Cola Scholars Program - This is a national scholarship program that specifically looks for the well-rounded student. Applicant must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Go to www.coca-colascholars.org to apply. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED BY OCTOBER 31.

14. SAT Web Registration - Do not wait to the last minute to register if you are going to do it over the internet. Both last Spring and this Fall the server went down due to the volume of students attempting to register at one time and you don't want to miss your opportunity to take the exam. Whether you use the internet or the U.S. mail do not wait until the last minute.

15. FingerLakes Community College - Fall Visitation Day is Tuesday, November 11, 2003. Go to www.flcc.edu/admissions to register.

16. SAT - Practice tests for the SAT are available in Mike's office.

17. SUNY Outreach College Night - Tuesday, September 30, 5:00-8:00 P.M. At the Riverside Convention Center. Over 80 colleges will be represented.

18. Hobart and William Smith Colleges - College information workshop on Wednesday, 10/22, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. here in Rochester. Call Donna Wolfe at 800-245-0100 or e-mail wolfe@hws.edu to register.

19. Dr. Kenneth Woodward Memorial Scholarship - For an individual that will be attending an accredited institution of higher learning in 2004 with a concentration in medicine. Deadline to apply is September 26, 2003. See Mike for an application.

20. Hispanic Support Organization of New York - Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to qualified and deserving Hispanic students. Go to www.hispanicsupportorganization.org for more information and an application.

21. SUNY applications are available in Mike's office. If you prefer, you can use the on-line application. Most SUNY schools are requiring that applicants fill out a part II that is specific to their particular campus.

22. Ithaca College - Applying to Ithaca College? See Mike soon for scholarship opportunities.

23. Yale University - Information Session on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 @ 7:30 p.m. The session will take place at Brighton HS, Room 251, 1150 Winton Rd. South.

24. Howard University Open House - Saturday, October 4, 2003, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Call 800-822-6363 for additional information.

25. Portfolio Review Day - Sunday, October 19, 2003 at RIT. Call 475-2647 for additional information.

26. Keuka College Open House - Saturday, October 18.
