Extended ClassNOW (journalism & social activism)
NOW is the time to be involved. NOW is the time to act. Now is the time to be aware. I want students who are about NOW. Read NOW. Write NOW. Make change NOW. Change in yourself, change in society, change in our community. Lets act NOW, find ourselves NOW, work NOW to create the society we need NOW. We have social needs NOW. We need grassroots democracy NOW, but only if all of us work and act together NOW. In this class we will read "The New York Times" daily to be aware of the latest political, social and scientific events. We will analyze and critique various journalistic sources. We will become involved in political movements chosen by the class. We will write, analyze and create a school paper. We will do weekly writing group assignments. We will do yoga every morning to sharpen our focus for the day, extended class will start 10 minutes early each day to do 20 minutes of yoga.
