August 29, 2002: Favorite Books Class

Date: Thu, 29 Aug 2002

Dear Friends of School Without Walls,

Our staff has decided to try to organize a unique class for about 15 students this year that would meet each Monday from 2-3:30 pm. at SWW. The class is a Favorite Books class that would be taught by interested community volunteers, and would meet with the 15 students for 4 consecutive Mondays to discuss, write about, and participate in activities the community resource person would design to explore the book. The book would be a favorite book chosen by the community person. SWW would purchase copies for the class.

Would you be interested in teaching an interested, fascinating group of young folks about one of your favorite books for four weeks? Responsibilities would include:

  1. Taking attendance,
  2. Designing discussions and other activities that you deem important for students to experience about the book for each of the 4 sessions, and
  3. Evaluating the work and growth of each of the students through a short narrative essay.

If you are interested, let me know by e-mailing me or calling me at 585-546-6732, ext. 1015. If this is something you can't do or are not interested in at this time, I understand completely.

Have a great year!

Sincerely,

Dan Drmacich, Principal
School Without Walls
