SENIOR HANDBOOK
2003-2004 School Year

Senior Project Deadlines

Senior Projects are a serious and important part of final year at SWW. This timeline is very important. Read it; know it; live (or die!) by it. Failure to meet one of the deadlines may result in your graduation date being pushed back.

If you need an extension of any of these deadlines, you must meet with the staff to obtain that extension prior to the deadline. The staff will grant deadline extensions only in exceptional and extreme cases of difficulty or hardship.

Computer crashes, planned trips out of town, inability to reach committee members, absence from school, or not knowing about the deadlines are some examples of unacceptable reasons for request.

ALL DEADLINES IN THIS HANDBOOK ARE AT 1:00 PM ON THE DAYS INDICATED. IF THE DAY IS NOT A SCHOOL DAY, THE DEADLINE IS AT 1:00 PM OF THE LAST SCHOOL DAY BEFORE THE GIVEN DATE.

By the second Friday in September Determine with your extended class advisor and the counselor if you are ELIGIBLE to be a senior. Last date for successful completion of two demonstrations.
By the third Friday in September Submit concept (sections A & C of Senior Project Proposal form) for senior project to SWW advisor in writing, including naming the second staff member and the students who will be on your committee.
By the last Friday in September SWW staff will discuss and approve or reject your project concept and provide you with feedback to assist you in developing a final proposal. The advisor will forward a copy of the approved concept to the counselor who will publish a list of approved projects after this date.

[If a project concept is not approved, you must present a new concept within two weeks, and all other deadlines before January will be extended by two weeks.]

The counselor will post copies of all final Senior Project Proposals.

As a person who is ready to graduate, you are expected to use correct grammar and to check your own spelling, or use appropriate writing processes for doing so.
